Across climatic zones

With the judicious use of biotechnology, scientists build resistance traits into crops by marrying appropriate strains of seed. These experiments undergo vigorous testing, first in sterile conditions in laboratories, and then in breeding stations that simulate farming conditions.

Microscopic observation follows for several seasons. Each parameter in the gestation cycle is documented. Extensive comprehensive testing at research locations, on farmer fields and in government trials is done over several years in different farming environments before a new hybrid is commercialized.

On an average, the gestation period of each Bioseed project is seven to ten years, from experiments in the laboratory to observation in testing labs and fields.

Long term biotechnology research projects, using state-of-the-art molecular and genetic engineering techniques, are being implemented with the objective of finding solutions to problems unique to farmers in South and South East Asia. Every conceivable precaution is being taken at every step to ensure human health and environment safety. The journey to product development can take up to ten years.

At the end of it, only hybrids of the highest quality make it to the marketplace and farms. As you read these words, several new and exciting hybrids and varieties are in the pipeline, ready for launch.
